The Canadian Government is allowing foreign nationals visiting Canada on a visit visa to apply for a work permit if they have a valid job offer without having to leave the country. According to the details, the rule is an extension of the COVID-19-era temporary public policy and will remain effective till February 28, 2025.
Before the introduction of this policy, if someone wanted to apply for a work permit while visiting Canada on a visit visa would have to leave the country to be issued the work permit. However, this policy allows the applicant to stay in Canada.
Foreign nationals who are in Canada as visitors and who receive a valid job offer will continue to be able to apply for, and receive, a work permit without having to leave the country until February 28th, 2025.
