The upcoming fifth edition of the ADNOC Abu Dhabi Marathon, set for December 16, will feature top international runners, including Uganda’s Andrew Kwemoi and Kenya’s Kiptum Barnabas in the men’s race, and Ethiopia’s Tirunesh Dibaba and Kenya’s Maurine Chepkemoi in the women’s race. The event anticipates 23,000 participants across various distances, highlighting Abu Dhabi’s growing international recognition in long-distance running.
Suhail Al Arifi, executive director of the events sector at Abu Dhabi Sports Council, emphasized the significance of renowned international runners in elevating the event’s status globally.
Open to all, the marathon offers distances such as 42.195km, marathon relay, 10km, 5km, and 2.5km, with free registration for people of determination and Paralympics participants. Al Arifi encouraged diverse participation, emphasizing that regardless of fitness levels, there’s a distance for everyone.
The races will start near ADNOC headquarters on Corniche Road and conclude at the ADNOC Campus, with Marathon Village, located at Adnoc headquarters, open from December 12 to 16, offering entertainment and dining options.
Participants will receive an exclusive Nike technical race t-shirt made from sustainable materials, customizable with their names.
