The Abu Dhabi Judicial Department’s Centre for Legal and Community Awareness (Masouliya) has launched a three-month campaign on domestic violence titled ‘Violence… the end of family stability’. Aimed at raising awareness about the harmful effects of domestic violence, the campaign will focus on prevention strategies, family rights and obligations, and penalties for offenders.
Utilizing social media and various media platforms, Masouliya aims to disseminate information on domestic violence. Director Dr Mohammad Rashid Al Dhanhani stressed the importance of family stability, highlighting its role in societal development and children’s upbringing.
The campaign focuses on talking about the value of family communication and respectful culture, especially in the era of social media, to educate society about the development of healthy family ties. The domestic violence law in the UAE is extremely broad, defining it to include acts, statements, or threats that harm the physical, mental, or sexual well-being of individuals with a special focus on protecting people within family contexts.
