On Friday, Abu Dhabi Police announced a new traffic fine for stopping vehicles in the middle of the road without any valid reason. According to the details, the Abu Dhabi Police issued an appeal to drivers, urging them not to halt their vehicles in the middle of the road without valid reasons and to promptly move their vehicles in the event of minor traffic accidents.
Violating this guideline carries a penalty of Dh1,000 and six traffic black points. Drivers were also advised to seek assistance from the Abu Dhabi Police Command and Control Centre in such situations.
The Traffic and Patrols Directorate of Abu Dhabi Police emphasized the importance of motorists, in cases of breakdowns or tire blowouts, relocating their vehicles to the nearest safe location off the road. This proactive measure ensures the smooth flow of traffic and allows space for other drivers to pass without disruption.
Brigadier Saif Al Zaabi, Deputy Director of the Traffic and Patrols Directorate, highlighted that road security stands as a key strategic priority for Abu Dhabi Police. He clarified that moving vehicles away from the road during minor traffic incidents does not impede the determination of fault, as precise systems are in place for this purpose.
Al Zaabi pointed out that leaving vehicles involved in minor accidents, those that have broken down, or those undergoing tire changes on road lanes exposes drivers to the risk of run-over accidents and additional traffic incidents.
He emphasized that the Traffic and Patrols Directorate at Abu Dhabi Police is dedicated to intensifying efforts to enhance road safety through strategic objectives, including the promotion of awareness and traffic culture via bulletins, field workshops, and information shared on Abu Dhabi Police’s social media platforms managed by the Security Media Department.
