Airfares for travelers in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) are expected to see a significant drop by mid-January 2024 with potential discounts of up to 50-60%.
This anticipated price decrease is likely to impact flights on high-cost routes to popular destinations such as the UK, Europe, South Asia, the Philippines, and even the US. Travel experts suggest that the winter rush, combined with the influx of large tour groups in Dubai, is causing a shift in demand, prompting airlines to consider revising their pricing strategies.
Malo Prado, CEO of MPQ Travel and Tourism, highlights that the expected reduction in winter fares for long-haul flights from the UAE is a response to the increased demand from large tour groups seeking more flights to Dubai.
While the surge in fares has presented challenges for local travelers in securing timely flight seats, there is a notable anticipation of a significant change in this trend.
Projected adjustments could lead to substantial fare reductions on a global scale. For example, an economy class fare from London Heathrow Airport to Dubai, currently priced at 5,135 dirhams, may decrease to 2,410 dirhams. Similarly, the fare from New York to Dubai, currently exceeding 6,500 dirhams, might experience a reduction, potentially accompanied by a decrease in taxes to around 3,500 dirhams.
The prospect of reduced airfares is met with excitement by travelers, promising more accessible and affordable options for international flights from the UAE in the coming weeks.
