To promote environmental sustainability, the Emirate of Ajman will start to ban single-use plastic bags effectively immediately. The announcement came via X (formerly Twitter), from the Ajman Municipality, declaring that this ban applies to all shopping centers and sales outlets within the emirate.
The development is aligns with Ministerial Decision No. (380) of 2022, which focuses on the regulation of single-use products in the state’s markets. 380 Furthermore, the move is in accordance with Federal Law No on. (2) of 2018, which addresses integrated waste management.
The decision is one of a wider plan by the Ministry of Climate Change & Environment to make UAE free from plastic bags and achieve an eco-friendlier, more sustainable environment. The new rule is a sign that the government is dedicated to reducing plastic waste and promoting a cleaner society.
