In Ajman, the Ajman Transport Authority has given its approval for licensing standards aimed at regulating and overseeing the business operations of delivery companies. This move is intended to bring a level of structure to the transportation process within the jurisdiction.
The approved requirements encompass various aspects, including the mandatory training of drivers and riders, licensing of vehicles and motorcycles, and specifications for delivery boxes.
Omar Mohamed Lootah, the Director-General of Ajman Transport Authority, outlined key prerequisites, emphasizing that drivers or riders should be free from any health conditions that could impede their job performance and must successfully pass a mental health assessment.
Companies involved in delivery services are mandated to maintain an adequately equipped and officially approved office, possess suitable vehicles, and provide appropriate parking facilities in line with the nature of their business.
Furthermore, the affixing or hanging of promotional materials on the vehicle body is strictly prohibited without obtaining prior approval from the Authority.
The Director-General highlighted additional requirements concerning the delivery boxes utilized in the delivery process. Specifically, the size of the bike’s delivery box should not exceed 50cm x 50cm, all sides of the box must be illuminated with lights, and it is mandatory to affix red and white reflective stickers on all sides of the box.
This regulatory framework is designed to enhance safety measures, ensure the well-being of drivers and riders, and create a standardized and orderly environment for the operations of delivery companies in Ajman.
