Angela Merkel: 70% of Germany could be infected by the coronavirus

GERMANY: German Chancellor Angela Markel has predicted up 70% of the population in Germany could be infected by the deadly coronavirus in the upcoming months.

According to her statement, about 58 million people are in a threat by the new deadly coronavirus

German Chancellor ‘Angela Markel’ made this serious statement in a press conference on Wednesday with the Health Minister Jens Spahn by her side.

According to the German newspaper Bild, there was a silence in the Parliament when she made the prognosis that 60 to 70 percent of the people of Germany will be infected by the coronavirus in the upcoming years.

The Health Minister Jens Spahn also confirmed the Chancellor’s statement. He also said 60 to 70 percent of people are expected to be affected by the virus.

According to the figures released by the Robert Koch Institute (RKI), Germany has reported 1,296 cases of coronavirus.

Mrs. Angela Markel said since there is no cure for the virus it is important to stop the spread of the virus. She also said Germany will have to continue the fight and struggle with the virus for a long time.

Depending on the seriousness of the outbreak, she also suggested that events and large gatherings may be canceled.

Markel also said it is also possible that parliament proceedings also be postponed.

The first death reported in Germany was of 89-year-old woman, she died in the town of Essen.

The second fatality was of a 78-year-old man with pre-existing health conditions. He died in Heinsberg.

Germany confirmed its third death on Wednesday in the western state of North Rhine-Westphalia.

The district of Heinsberg is the worst affected area in Germany.

Markel has said Germany will do whatever is necessary to limit the impact of the coronavirus on Europe’s biggest economy.

In Europe, Italy is the worst hit after China. Italy has confirmed 10,000 infected cases.

China has seen 80,754 confirmed cases and 3,136 deaths. The number of new cases is lowering in China. The number of new infections was only 19 on Tuesday.
