BEIJING: China on Thursday said India had infringed upon the country’s territorial integrity in the Sikkim sector.
“Since the China-India boundary in the Sikkim sector has been delineated, India has infringed upon China’s territorial sovereignty, which has jeopardized peace and stability in the border regions,” said Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Geng Shuang.
The spokesman said this in response to a question over an Indian unmanned aerial vehicle invading Chinese airspace and crashing at the Sikkim section of the Sino-India border.
“China demands that India immediately stop the border fringe activities of the aircraft and work with China to maintain peace and stability,” Geng Shuang added.
When asked about supporting India’s accession to the Nuclear Supply Group (NSG), the foreign ministry spokesman responded: “Our position on this issue has not changed. China supports the Nuclear Suppliers Group in addressing this issue through an open and transparent intergovernmental process, based on the principle of consensus”.
Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesmen said: “China, Russia, Foreign Ministers will mainly discuss how to promote pragmatic cooperation among the three parties. At the same time, the foreign ministers of the three countries will also exchange views on international and regional issues of common concern”.
He further added that during the meeting of Wangi Yi with top Indian government officials, both sides will exchange views on the relations between China and India as well as issues of common concern.
