The wives of detained most prominent Chinese human rights lawyers shave heads in protest Monday.

Since Chinese President Xi Jinping took office in 2012, hundreds of rights lawyers and activists have been detained, arrested and jailed.
The Four wives gathered in the central-park of Beijing apartment complex and shaved their heads off in protest.
The lawyers were detained during The 709 Crack
The four wives are seen shaving their hair in front of neighbors and a small group of invited foreign journalists.

The women shaved each other’s heads and then placed their hair in see-through plastic boxes alongside pictures of them with their husbands.
They shaved their heads before heading towards China’s Supreme People’s Court to petition over the treatment of their husbands.

Li Wenzu told reporters that the act was to protest against the way her husband’s case was being handled and the judges have been unlawful. The proceedings of the case are also being delayed. She also stated she has been prohibited from appointing a lawyer of her choice.
She also said Wang has been detained in Tianjin, Li and the seven lawers she appointed to represent her husband haven’t been allowed to visit her husband.

“We can go hairless, but you cannot be lawless,” they announced at the end of the ceremony, a pun in Chinese, as the words for “hair” and “law” sound similar.
