Columbia: Columbia authorities have revealed more than 40 Venezuelan women migrants have been rescued from sexual slavery ring. The women migrants are held captive and forced into the prostitution activities.
These women who are forced to migrate to escape their country Venezuela’s humanitarian and economic crisis. Unfortunately, they find themselves captured and enslaved into sex work in Columbia.

The women are captured at the boarder of Cucuta. The network then transports them to capital. Their documents are confiscated and forced into sex work for 20 days. They are forced into sex work in the pretext to pay off their transportation cost. The women are allowed only 15 minutes off each
As the migration from Venezuela is increasing, Rights advocates fear the human trafficking is becoming more prevalent.
According to United Nations:
- In the recent years over 3 million Venezuelans haveimmigrated.
- Colombia has received most than any other nation.
- Many just bring a suitcase of belongings.
The women could have been rescued earlier but the immigration agents have been successful in bribing off to the raid. About half the women have been recused in Bogota. The other half are still in Cucuta. Many women were lured with food and money.
