Dubai and Abu Dhabi police have issued advisories to the drivers against letting the passengers stick their heads out from sunroofs or sit on open windows of moving vehicles. This happened after a number of road accidents last year affecting people who fell from moving cars.
The Major General Saif Muhair Al Mazrouei highlighted the dangers these actions bring to individuals and other road users. Punishments could be as severe as impounding a vehicle for two months, a fine of Dh2,000, 23 traffic points and an additional Dh50,000 for the release of a vehicle.
The traffic and security patrols of the Directorate of Traffic and Security of Abu Dhabi Police also issued the call for adherence to traffic rules. Al Mazrouei warned about the dangers of sitting on windows or poking heads from moving vehicle’s sunroofs, pointing to the possibility of grave injuries and increased collision chances.
He highlighted the collective duty in the reduction of road accidents, requesting citizens to join hands and abide by the traffic rules. Al Mazrouei stressed the necessity of adopting positive behaviors to guarantee road safety and prevent accidents that should be avoided by maintaining the regulations.
