In an effort to improve road safety, Dubai authorities have announced strict rules against drivers who engage in hit-and-run offences. Dubai’s Public Prosecution has warned of heavy fines of not less than Dh20,000 and also imprisonment for drivers who flee the scene after meeting an accident and with injured people present.
In either case, the authorities will impose severe punishment to improve road safety and curb people from engaging in reckless behavior on the road.
The law clearly requires drivers to help all those injured in an accident. Furthermore, they must file a report on the incident to the nearest police station within six hours following its occurrence. If the guilty party does not adhere to these regulations, it will face significant consequences.
Authorities stress the shared responsibility of all road users to follow driving regulations and laws with a focus on each individual’s important role in ensuring everybody is safe while using public roads. This move shows that Dubai is interested in creating a safe and responsible driving environment.
