The Dubai Government Human Resources Department has established official working hours for government employees during Ramadan 2024. From Monday to Thursday, government employees are required to work from 9 am to 2.30 pm, while on Fridays, the working hours are from 9 am to 12 pm. To accommodate different needs, government agencies are permitted to adopt flexible working arrangements, including remote work policies on Fridays, which can be applied for up to 70% of the total workforce.
It is also stressed that government organizations need to adjust their working hours for staff members who work in shifts or whose jobs involve maintaining public service facilities or providing services to the public. The goal of flexible working hours is to maintain an efficient operation of public services while making sure that operational requirements are met. The policies seek to strike a balance between religious observance and professional obligations.
This initiative reflects the Dubai Government’s commitment to fostering an inclusive work environment that respects religious practices while ensuring productivity and efficiency. The government ensures that public services continue throughout the holy month of Ramadan while also assisting individuals in fulfilling their religious responsibilities by setting standards for working hours and permitting some degree of flexibility.
Meanwhile, the same announcement has been made by the Sharjah government, which has reduced working hours during the holy month of Ramadan.
