Dubai-based Carrier Flydubai Crowned ‘Airline of the Year’ at Aviator Middle East Awards

Dubai-based carrier, Flydubai, clinched the prestigious title of “Airline of the Year” at the Aviator Middle East Awards, previously known as The Aviation Business Middle East Awards. Daniel Kerrison, Senior Vice President of Inflight Operations, accepted the accolade at a ceremony in Dubai attended by key figures in the travel and aviation sector.

Voted by industry experts, the award recognizes airlines that exhibit an unwavering commitment to passenger satisfaction, safety, innovation, and operational excellence in the region. Flydubai earned this distinction for setting industry benchmarks through outstanding inflight experiences, streamlined operations, and significant contributions to enhancing the Middle East’s global connectivity and fostering economic growth in the region.

Ghaith Al Ghaith, CEO of Flydubai, expressed gratitude for the recognition, stating, “This award recognizes our commitment to making travel more accessible across the region, providing the right product at the right time, and supporting Dubai’s aviation hub. Since the beginning of 2023, Flydubai has expanded its network by adding over 20 destinations, including Krabi and Pattaya in Thailand, Milan-Bergamo in Italy, Cairo in Egypt, and Poznan in Poland. Further growth is anticipated with the upcoming launch of new destinations such as Mombasa in Kenya from January 17, 2024, and Langkawi and Penang in Malaysia from February 10.

Flydubai’s current network spans more than 120 destinations in 54 countries, served by a modern fleet of 84 Boeing 737 aircraft. The airline is committed to ongoing expansion, supported by the recruitment of top talent.

Noteworthy announcements at the Dubai Airshow included a landmark order for 30 Boeing 787 Dreamliners, a multimillion-dollar Full-Flight Simulator and Training Facility, and a purpose-built MRO facility. Earlier in the year, Flydubai received the prestigious “Four-Star Major Airline” rating from the Airline Passenger Experience Association (APEX), solidifying its reputation for excellence in passenger experience. The carrier’s consistent dedication to innovation and quality continues to position it as a leading force in the aviation industry.
