Dubai’s Road and Transportation Authority (RTA) announced that Dubai Metro and Dubai Tram will operate non-stop for 40 hours from December 31, 2024.
According to RTA, Dubai Metro will operate from 8:00 am (December 31) till the end of January 1, while Dubai Tram will run non-stop from 9:00 am (December 31) till 1:00 am (January 2). Furthermore, the RTA is also contemplating to add a fleet of 230 buses that will operate completely free for the public on New Year.
Apart from the extended Metro and Tram services, Abdullah Yousif Al Ali, the CEO of Dubai’s RTA, stated that additional parking spaces, and free bus rides are being arranged to provide the public with convenient transportation to minimize traffic congestion.
According to the details, an additional 900 parking spaces have been arranged at Al Wasl and Al Jafilya that will accommodate the influx of vehicles during the New Year’s festivities.
Meanwhile, regular taxi services will continue to operate during the New Year’ Eve period. “Through these measures, the RTA continues to demonstrate its commitment to enhancing Dubai’s transportation infrastructure and ensuring the well-being of its citizens and guests,” Al Ali stated.
Al Ali mentioned that they’ve set up signage systems to help both commuters and revelers find their way through the festivities.
They’ve strategically placed road signs to guide traffic, pointing out parking spots and bus pick-up spots.
On top of that, they’re bringing in Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) signage and dynamic message boards. These will give us up-to-the-minute details on road closures, alternative routes, and available pathways.
