The Dubai Metro has upgraded its Ticket Vending Machines (TVMs), allowing riders to recharge their Nol cards using digital payments. This upgrade, completed for 165 out of 262 TVMs across stations, aims to enhance customer convenience and reduce transaction time by 40%. The renovated TVMs feature a new design with distinct colors for easy identification at each station.
According to Hassan Al Mutawa, Director of Rail Operations at the Rail Agency, RTA, the upgraded TVMs streamline the recharging process, accepting both banknotes and coins. The upgrade caters to customer needs and ensures a smoother experience for riders. Al Mutawa emphasized RTA’s commitment to innovation and customer satisfaction, aligning with their vision of becoming a global leader in seamless and sustainable mobility.
RTA’s focus on financial sustainability and operational efficiency drives its push towards digitization. By encouraging more Nol card users to adopt digital payment methods, RTA aims to reduce cash handling logistics and enhance accessibility. Currently, around 20% of Nol users utilize digital methods, a figure RTA plans to increase in the future.
This is an example of the Dubai Metro’s effort to deliver to the public acceptable and eco-friendly transportation services. The Managing Director of RTA emphasized the organization’s commitment to delivering high-level services that are responsive to the evolving demands of commuters. RTA keeps its status as a public transport provider’s leader through constant improvements and innovations.
