Dubai’s public transportation is getting a major upgrade as The Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) is set to build 762 new bus shelters across the city by 2025.
Innovative Vibes:
RTA is diving into the realm of 3D printing technology to craft some of these shelters. Picture this – futuristic, eco-friendly structures adorning Dubai’s streets.
According to the project plan, all shelters are scheduled for completion by 2025. RTA is exploring the use of 3D printing technology in the construction of some shelters on a trial base in collaboration with a company. pic.twitter.com/Banf9Z6IBB

Inclusive Design:
These shelters aren’t just for show; they’re built with everyone in mind. RTA is going all-in on inclusivity, ensuring compliance with the Dubai Code for People of Determination. That means wheelchair-accessible spots and features catering to people of all abilities. It’s all part of the “My Community… A Place for Everyone” initiative, making Dubai a genuinely inclusive city.
Options Galore:
With four different shelter types tailored to passenger volume, every neighborhood gets its perfect waiting spot. Whether it’s a bustling main stop with air-conditioned sections or a handy pick-up/drop-off station, the project is all about meeting diverse needs.
Smart Shelters:
But the awesomeness doesn’t end there; Each shelter comes with a shaded outdoor area, designated spots for ads, and – drumroll, please – information screens! Say farewell to the guessing game; these screens will showcase real-time bus routes, schedules, pick-up times, and even useful passenger info.
A Vision for Tomorrow:
This initiative is more than just about shelters; it’s about elevating mobility and encouraging more folks to hop onto public transport. RTA is committed to constant improvement, envisioning Dubai as a city where getting around is a breeze – effortless, efficient, and accessible for everyone.
