Dubai Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) on Saturday announced the temporary suspension of some bus services this New Year’s Eve. A total of 25 routes will experience a brief suspension starting from 3:30 pm on Sunday, December 31, until 6 am the following day, January 1.
In response to the New Year’s Eve festivities, the RTA has ensured that residents attending the fireworks display will have ample public transport options. The Dubai Metro and Tram will operate non-stop for 40 hours—specifically, from 8 am on December 31 until the end of January 1 for the Metro and from 9 am on December 31 until 1 am on January 2 for the Tram.
Furthermore, the RTA has announced the addition of a fleet of 230 buses, available to the public free of charge on New Year’s Eve, to alleviate potential traffic congestion.
