Paul Pogba is not quitting the France National Team as a result of the ‘Islamophobic comments’ made by the French president Emmanuel Macron alleging that Islam was a source of terrorism.
Many international news outlets started reported the departure of Paul Pogba from the France National Team in retaliation to the comments made by president Macron in his speech on Friday.
The Islamophobic statements by French president came after a Paris teacher, Samuel Paty, was beheaded on his way home from school after he showed cartoons of the Holy Prophet during a lecture in class.
A fake news started trending on social media and was even reported on some news outlets about Paul Pogba quitting the France National Team in response to the statements made by Macron.
However, the footballer on Monday took to his Instagram handle confirming that he has no intentions of quitting the team and marking the initial story as ‘unacceptable’ and ‘fake news’.
It is pertinent to mention that Pogba converted to Islam in his late 20s and the fake reports claimed that the footballer resented the French government’s decision to bestow the country’s highest honor on Samuel Paty.
