Five-year-old Alfai Al Marzooqi from Abu Dhabi has made history by becoming the youngest female to publish a book, as confirmed by the Guinness World Records. A Grade 1 student at Brighton College Abu Dhabi, Alfai’s book, ‘The Lost Rabbit,’ explores themes of friendship, compassion, and love for animals. The characters in her heartwarming story, inspired by real-life friends, Alfai and Salma, take readers on a journey of kindness.
Alfai’s passion for storytelling emerged at the age of two, with her mother, Teeb Al Barri, noticing her fascination with thought-provoking questions and a keen interest in books over electronic devices. In just three days, Alfai wrote, illustrated, and colored ‘The Lost Rabbit,’ showcasing exceptional creativity and dedication. Her dream of becoming an international fashion designer has led to the launch of the ‘Tell and Tale’ brand, featuring her unique fashion pieces.
Her father, Yaqoub Al Marzooqi, expressed immense pride in Alfai’s achievement, highlighting the family’s collaboration with various partners, including Dar Sama for publishing and distribution. The family’s commitment to nurturing talent extends to Alfai’s four-year-old brother, Hamad Al Marzooqi, aspiring to set a Guinness Record as the youngest Emirati chef and entrepreneur.
The announcement of Alfai’s achievement took place at Burjeel Hospital, where she was born, with the hospital supporting the book’s publication and Guinness recognition. A ceremony celebrating Alfai’s accomplishment included book reading and signing sessions, a magic show, face painting, and dancing.
Emirati writer Mariam Nasser, members of the Emirates Heritage Club, and officials from Burjeel Hospital presented Alfai with the certificate for the ‘Youngest Person to Publish a Book (Female).’ The hospital expressed pride in supporting Alfai’s global achievement, emphasizing her connection to the hospital since birth.
Dr. Sausan Abdul Rahman, who delivered Alfai, congratulated her and revealed that Alfai is already working on her next book, ‘The Lost Cat,’ reflecting her love for animals. The book is available in Arabic and English through Alfai’s online platform and social media.
