Following the death of its emir, Sheikh Nawaf Al Ahmad Al Sabah, the government offices in Kuwait will remain closed for three days. The state has declared a 40-day mourning period, with official departments set to resume operations on Wednesday, as stated in an advisory from the Kuwait News Agency (Kuna).
Throughout the mourning period, flags at state offices will be flown at half-mast to honor the late emir.
Additionally, the royal court in Kuwait released details regarding Sheikh Nawaf’s funeral. Prayers will take place at the Bilal Bin Rabah Mosque on Sunday at 9 am, followed by a restricted funeral for family members later in the morning.
The newly appointed Emir, Sheikh Mishal Al Ahmad Al Jaber Al Sabah, along with other members of the royal family, will be available to receive condolences at Bayan Palace on Monday and Tuesday mornings and afternoons, according to a report from the royal court published by Kuna.
