Coronavirus: Prince Charles diagnosed with COVID-19

The heir to the throne Prince Charles, 71, has been tested positive for coronavirus after he started showing mild symptoms.

However, the Prince of Whales is said to be in good health and is self isolating in Scotland with the Duchess of Cornwell who has been tested negative for the COVID-19 virus.

Prince Charles started showing symptons on Monday morning when he was tested and results came in late Tuesday night.

The Clarence House confirmed the news in a statement issued this morning saying:

The Prince of Wales has tested positive for coronavirus,
He has been displaying mild symptoms but otherwise remains in good health and has been working from home throughout the last few days as usual.
The Duchess of Cornwall has also been tested but does not have the virus. In accordance with government and medical advice, the Prince and the Duchess are now self-isolating at home in Scotland.
The tests were carried out by the NHS in Aberdeenshire where they met the criteria required for testing.
It is not possible to ascertain from whom the Prince caught the virus owing to the high number of engagements he carried out in his public role during recent weeks.

After this revelation, Buckingam Palace said that the Queen remains in good health and she last met with Prince Charles on 12 March.

The statement read:

Her Majesty The Queen remains in good health.
The Queen last saw the Prince of Wales briefly on 12 March and is following all the appropriate advice with regard to her welfare. We will not be commenting further.

The last public event attended by the Prince of Whale was at the Mansion House in London on 12 March 2020 which was specifically for the Australian bushfire relief.

The household staff at the Birkhall which is the prince’s residence on the Balmoral estate are also self isolating in their homes.
