The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and United Arab Emirates (UAE) along with most other Gulf countries will start the fasting month of Ramadan 2023 from March 23 (Thursday).
The development comes after the crescent for the Holy Month of Ramadan 2023 was not sighted in the Gulf countries, especially Saudi Arabia.
Meanwhile, the Taraweeh Prayers in the Two Holy Mosques will begin tomorrow (22nd March 2023) following Isha prayers.
Earlier, Saudi Arabia’s Supreme Court had called on all Muslims in the Kingdom to sight the Ramadan crescent on Tuesday evening that corresponds to 29th Shaban 1444 and report their findings.
More than 1.8 billion Muslims will mark the start of Ramadan 2023, during which believers abstain from eating, drinking, and smoking from dawn till dusk.
However, young children, sick individuals, travelers, and women who are pregnant, nursing, or menstruating are exempt.
