Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) marked Sheikh Zayed Humanitarian Day by giving out over 600 free nol cards to needy families. These cards aren’t just for transportation but can also be used to buy essentials at certain shops.
RTA mentioned that this gesture is part of their Ramadan efforts to spread joy among various groups like RTA employees, people with disabilities, low-income families, drivers, and workers.
Earlier in the month, RTA launched the ‘Modes of Good’ initiative, expanding on the yearly ‘Meals on Wheels’ program. They distributed 8,000 Iftar meals to bus drivers, delivery riders, truckers, and Abra captains. Additionally, RTA teamed up with Beit Al Khair Society for the Ramadan Tent Project, providing 2,000 Iftar meals to fasting individuals.
To bring families closer during Ramadan, free international calls are offered at select Metro stations’ telephone booths. Commuters can use this service from Al Ghubaiba, Union, and Jebel Ali Metro stations to connect with their loved ones abroad.
