MOSCOW: Russia has become the first country to launch a coronavirus vaccine after less than two months of testing according to president Vladimir Putin.
President Vladimir Putin said on Tuesday that Russia had become the first country to grant regulatory approval to the newly developed COVID-19 vaccine paving way for mass inoculation of the country’s population.
While speaking at a government meeting on state television, President Putin said that the coronavirus vaccine was developed by Moscow’s Gamaleya Institute, was safe and effective.

He confirmed that the COVID-19 vaccine had been administered to one of his daughters further saying:
I know that it works quite effectively, forms strong immunity, and I repeat, it has passed all the needed checks,
However, will other countries use a COVID-19 vaccine developed by Russia since US infectious disease expert Dr Anthony Fauci earlier said that it was unlikely that the country will use a vaccine developed by China or Russia questioning its safety and effectiveness.

Although, this development shows the determination of Russia to win the race for an effective coronavirus vaccine and according to reports clinical trials involving all thirty eight volunteers proved successful and each one of them developed immunity.
