Saudi Arabia has reserved a special area around the Holy Kaaba at the Grand Mosque in Mecca, the most sacred site in Islam, specifically for Muslims performing Umrah, a minor pilgrimage. This will help to ensure the safety and convenience of pilgrims during their religious rites.
The General Authority for Care of the Two Holy Mosques, responsible for managing the Grand Mosque, announced this measure to facilitate the pilgrimage process. They encourage other worshippers to use designated prayer areas within the mosque complex, as Muslims face the Holy Kaaba during their prayers.
This adjustment comes ahead of Ramadan 2024, which is the holiest month in Islam and a lot of Umrah activities take place during this time. Ramadan, expected to commence on March 11 this year, is a time of fasting and spiritual reflection for Muslims worldwide. By providing a dedicated space for Umrah pilgrims, Saudi Arabia will make the pilgrimage experience better for pilgrims and also ensure the safety of all worshippers.
