Saudi Arabia has started accepting applications from companies interested in obtaining licenses to cater to overseas Muslim pilgrims during the upcoming annual Hajj season, as stated by a Saudi official in Cairo.
The registration will remain open and applications will be accepted through December 5, and interested companies can submit their applications via the Saudi Ministry of Hajj and Umrah’s online portal, according to Ayed Algwinm, the ministry’s undersecretary for Hajj affairs.
The objective of this initiative, Algwinm explained, is to enhance competitiveness in providing distinguished services for overseas pilgrims and to expand the scope of these services. He emphasized that an increase in the number of specialized companies in this field will contribute to meeting the needs and aspirations of pilgrims from all around the world.
The services offered by these licensed firms encompass accommodation and transportation. In the previous June, nearly 2 million pilgrims from across the globe performed Hajj in Saudi Arabia, marking a return to pre-pandemic levels.
With preparations for the upcoming Hajj season underway, Saudi Arabia has already established rules, and Minister of Hajj Tawfeeq Al Rabiah highlighted the importance of early contracts in securing priority for designated places at the holy sites. He emphasized that the country finalizing contracts early will be given priority in selecting appropriate places at the holy sites.
The issuance of Hajj visas is set to commence on March 1 and conclude on the 20th of Shawwal, corresponding to April 29. Hajj pilgrims are expected to begin arriving in Saudi Arabia on the first day of Dhul Qaidah, the 11th month of the Islamic calendar, equivalent to May 9. This new mechanism aims to facilitate preparations for the obligatory Islamic duty of Hajj.
