Sharjah is set to implement stricter housing regulations for single individuals residing in the emirate’s residential neighborhoods, as announced on Tuesday following the weekly meeting of the Sharjah Executive Council (SEC).
Chaired by Sheikh Sultan bin Muhammad bin Sultan Al Qasimi, Crown Prince and Deputy Ruler of Sharjah, and Chairman of the Executive Council, the SEC examined a recent report outlining the housing situation of single residents.
This review encompassed an evaluation of existing regulations, along with an assessment of the social, economic, and security implications of the current scenario.
Government agencies involved in the matter provided insights and proposed streamlined procedures to address the housing situation for singles. In response, the executive council directed the reinforcement of control measures while simultaneously instructing relevant entities to develop new legislations that align with the current needs and demands.
Certain residential areas in Sharjah are exclusively designated for families, and authorities regularly conduct inspections to ensure compliance with this rule. Over the years, numerous single individuals have been evicted for violating these regulations.
The SEC meeting delved into various topics, including the advancement of new services, progress updates on ongoing projects, the growing demand for green spaces, and the emirate’s commitment to sustainability in the tourism sector.
