His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Ruler of Sharjah, inaugurated a project to revitalize Al Hira, Sharjah’s old town.
He revealed a memorial marking Al Hira’s founding in 1613 AD and transformed Sultan bin Abdullah bin Majid Al Owais’s house into Al Hira Literary Majlis.
The initiative to revive Al Hira’s historic town comprises the restoration of three prominent residences: Sultan bin Abdullah bin Majid Al Owais’s house, Hamid Khalaf Bu Khasrah’s residence, and Khalifa Sultan Al Suwaidi’s dwelling. Additionally, a memorial memorializing Al Hira’s establishment four centuries ago in 1613 AD was revealed during the project’s unveiling.
The Sultan bin Abdullah bin Majid Al Owais Mosque was also unveiled, part of the broader initiative encompassing Hamid Khalaf Bu Khasrah’s house and Khalifa Sultan Al Suwaidi’s residence. This effort aims to preserve historical sites.
The ceremony was attended by Sheikh Salem bin Abdulrahman Al Qasimi, Chairman of Sharjah Ruler’s Office; Abdulrahman bin Mohamed Al Owais, Minister of Health and Prevention; and Dr. Abdullah bin Mohammed Belhaif Al Nuaimi, Chairman of Sharjah Consultative Council.
Sharjah’s commitment to heritage and cultural preservation is highlighted by the project.
