Singer Krishnakumar Kunnath, more popularly known as KK, one of the most popular Bollywood playback singers, has passed away in Kolkata on Tuesday night. According to the details, KK was feeling unwell after reaching his hotel room following a performance at the Kolkata Auditorium, where he sang for almost an hour.
The singer was taken to a private hospital in south Kolkata, where doctors declared him brought dead of arrival. KK was 53-years-old at the time of his death.
KK, who recorded his first album in 1999, was known as a versatile singer and has recorded songs in Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, Malayalam, Marathi and Bengali, among other languages. He gained popularity from the early 2000s with a career in playback singing and recorded a wide range of popular songs for Bollywood films.
The news comes just a day after popular Indian Punjabi singer Sidhu Moose Wala was shot dead on his way to his village in Mansa, when unidentified gunmen sprayed bullets at this vehicle.
