Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the United Arab Emirates (UAE), has directed concerned authorities to change the name of Abu Dhabi International Airport.
According to the details, the new name for Abu Dhabi’s airport, Zayed International Airport, will come into effect from 9 February 2024 on the same day as the official opening ceremony of the new Terminal A.
As per details, the new terminal will carry a capacity of facilitating the landing of 70 aircrafts at the same time for a total of 40 million passengers per year.
The decision to change the name of Abu Dhabi International Airport was made to pay tribute to the legacy of Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, who has served as both the president of the UAE since its formation on December 2, 1971, and as the ruler of Emirate of Abu Dhabi since 1966.
