The UAE Cybersecurity Council has issued a warning and advised Android users to update their device software immediately in order protect from potential data breaches.
Taking to X (formerly Twitter), the authority pointed out that Android devices are being infested with “high-risk vulnerabilities” and brought to attention Google’s new updates addressing these issues.
Lack of updates on an Android device brings a number of risks, including the risk of data loss, information theft and malware installation without user’s awareness – compromising control over the device.
The council has identified the Android versions 11, 12, 12L, 13, and 14 as being affected by the threat.
This advisory is similar to the alert that was issued in December 2023 by this council for Apple users about updating their software so as to reduce cybersecurity risks.
