A woman has been handed a two-month imprisonment and fined Dh3,000 by the Fujairah Federal Court for physically assaulting a man in a residential building, causing injuries that prevented him from working for over 20 days. The court ruled that the attack involved scratching the man’s face with her hand.

The victim reported the incident, stating that the woman verbally abused and physically attacked him without provocation when he entered his residential building. In response to her actions, he threatened to involve the police, leading to further aggression from her. The victim subsequently filed a police report detailing the assault.
Initially confessing to the allegations when summoned by the police, the accused later retracted her statements during the investigations and denied the charges. She claimed that the man attacked her upon her return from the market, alleging that the assault continued in the building’s elevator, compelling her to defend herself and scratch his face.
The court, ruling in absentia, imposed a two-month prison term, a Dh3,000 fine, and the legally prescribed judicial fee on the accused. The decision was based on the evidence presented, including the victim’s statements and the accused’s admission to scratching the man’s face, leading to sustained injuries. Despite the accused’s counterclaims, the court found no grounds for doubt regarding her culpability in the crime.
