In order to curb the spread of the novel coronavirus UK will be going into a full lockdown from Monday evening with people being ordered to stay at home except for essential work, buy food or medicine.
The UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson announced this decision after a surge in the number of COVID-19 cases in the country saying:
From this evening I must give the British people a very simple instruction, you must stay at home,
UK PM Boris Johnson made the announcement saying that starting Monday evening people will only be allowed to leave home for limited reasons otherwise fines and penalties will be imposed.

The British people will be allowed to leave home to get basic necessities like food or medicine but as infrequently as possible and they can also leave their home if they need to provide care to someone else.
Traveling for work will be permitted but only if it is absolutely necessary and something that cannot be done from home.
People will also be allowed to leave their home for any one form of exercise a day like a run or a walk with member of their own household or alone.
Boris Johnson also said that there will also be a ban of gatherings of more than two people unless they live together and all non essential businesses and shops shall remain closed which include playgrounds, libraries and even places or worship like churches.
All ceremonies including weddings and baptisms are banned during the lockdown except funerals which will be allowed to be carried out.
Other places like schools, restaurants and cinemas are already closed in the UK since last week and the Prime Minister Boris Johnson is urging people to not meet with friends and say no if they’re invited in order to limit social interactions in order to get through these hard times.
This UK lockdown is being imposed after the number of coronavirus cases have surged past 6,600 with hundreds of new cases emerging every few hours and the number of deaths rising past 335.
The total COVID-19 cases globally have crossed 378,000 with over 16,400 deaths and this number is rapidly rising with US emerging as the next epicenter with thousands of new cases in the past 24 hours.
